We were learning about faith in church today.
Below is the definition of faith and the scripture we were studying.
(according to Merriam-Webster)
Alma 32:21
21 And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to
have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye
have faith ye hope for things which are not seen,
which are true.
How can someone have hope when they have just been told that their child has a devastating medical diagnosis?
Faith.
Faith in a God who we know is real even though we cannot see Him. Faith in His love, even though we are witnessing devastation.
Hope.
I have hope because I have witnessed miracles. Every day that I see my own son, weak in body, limited in physical ability, with a strength in spirit beyond his years, and beyond his frail body.
His body is a shell that houses a great and powerful spirit. I have witnessed this, I have seen him grow weak after a surgery or illness, and I have seen that spirit of his shine through. I have seen him pale, with dark circles under his eyes and yet watch his joy for life and people shine through in his smile.
I know that God loves my son, that He holds him in His hands and comforts and strengthens him. I can't see God, but I see His hand and His strength in my son. I see His love shining pure in my son's face.
Faith equals Hope
Hope equals Strength
Strength equals Ability
